Scripture Sunday

4.That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. 5. And when thou prayest thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Matthew Chapter 6 Verses 4-6 King James Version

Verse 4 simply means that if you give to the poor, don't advertise it,
don't brag about it. Do it for your Heavenly Father in a loving, kind and generous manner.
In verse 5 He is telling us how NOT to pray. We are not to pray like the hypocrites do. A hypocrite is a person who pretends to have beliefs, morals or opinions, etc. but does not possess them. Onto verse 6, now this is how we are to pray. We are to pray in secret, not in the ways of the hypocrites loudly and opinionated but humbly and sincere and we will be rewarded for it. Those rewards will be spiritual for our Heavenly Father already supplies our needs for us but does answer our prayers.
